I used to think freelancing would be this cool, relaxed, and easy experience with exciting projects and fun collaborations. Of course, the truth had to be much more. tangled. Incredibly rewarding was more like it. Let me take you on this wild ride about how I got my very first project on Fiverr-one involving a Japanese client, a wooden elf house, and a lot of emotional roller coaster moments.

The Great Work Crisis

This all started when things at the day job weren’t going so well. My boss wasn’t exactly thrilled with my work, nor was I with him. No matter what I did, it wasn’t good enough, and instead of going through all that tension, I decided the time came for a second choice. You know, the old “plan B” to get away from it all-that craziness.

So, I immediately opened a Fiverr page about environment design-something which really called my name. I attached examples of my previous work, SEOed my profile using relevant keywords, and just sat there, waiting for people to knock on my virtual door. And boy, people showed up, but hilariously, with really high expectations and sadly empty wallets: “Can you design an entire mystical world for $5? just kind of empty.
